Withdrawn from media life for many years, Fabrice now lives in Switzerland with his wife Michèle. The former host of the shows “Les Quat’z”amis, “Les Incollables” and “La Classe”, is now enjoying happy days away from the spotlight.
For nearly 35 years, he was one of the faces of television and one of the voices of radio. From the 60s to the 90s, Fabrice (real name François Simon-Bessy) was a emblematic character of the French audiovisual landscape. But in the early 2000s, the famous animator wanted to say stop, and retire to move to Switzerland.
During an interview with France Dimanche in July 2021, he confided in his new life with his “wonderful” wife Michele. “We’ve been together for thirty-six years and we’ve never been apart for more than two hours. It’s pretty phenomenal, but we are a very close couple”he said.
Fulfilled in his life, Fabrice had all the same indicated that the public with which he had “very close relationships” he missed him a lot. “For me, they were friends (…). Today, when I do certain things, I see certain things, films that excite me, etc. I would like to tell them”he revealed.
Fabrice does not envisage a return to the radio
Dad of a big daughter, Sophie, 35, the former animator recently became a grandfather. “Ah yes, from an adorable little Margaux, who is six and a half years old. She comes regularly to the house and it’s quite a phenomenon. In my opinion, she inherited genes from René Simon and myself. A real actress! I hope that she will have a more assertive vocation than mine, because it is very distressing not to know what we will become”he had revealed, filled with joy.
In an interview on the show We redo the TV on RTL a month earlier, Fabrice had also returned to the reasons which led him to leave media life. Although he had admitted that he could have “two, three more years if the circumstances had lent themselves to it”he had felt it was time for him to retire, for “do something else”. Eric Dussart had nevertheless tried to offer him to return to the airwaves, but this idea had quickly been refused by Fabrice. “I’m going to be 80! (…) A daily show, I won’t last”, he assured.
