Cole George is married to a nurse and reports in an emotional and disturbing Facebook post about how much his wife sacrifices herself for her job.
There are haunting and very soulful wordswith which Cole George describes his wife's working life on Facebook. With his post he wants to make it clear how much nurses do for us all – and what it means for him as a husband and their four children that his wife is so committed to her job. Because that's how it is for many people with social professions. To many of them, the people who take care of them are so close to their hearts that, despite all the passion for their work, they often miss out.
"THAT is your calling"
“If you marry a nurse, you marry her job. There are many missed opportunities. Missed events with the kids, missed meals with the family,” writes Cole George. "I accept that from the bottom of my heart. THAT is her calling. THAT is her passion."
While his wife sleeps exhausted from work, he does everything to make the start of the next shift pleasant: "When my nurse sleeps, I quietly clean the house for her, do the dishes, prepare meals and wash them Laundry so that, an hour before she has to go to the next duty, she has a clean house, reasonably calm children and a meal that she can take away. "
"You should know that you don't have to worry about anything"
When his wife comes back from her night shift exhausted, he listens to her: "When my nurse comes home, she tells me about her crazy night shifts, about patients who become aggressive, about patients who die. She sits with them and tries to make them as comfortable as possible. She tries not to let in all the emotions so much that she brings them home. When she comes home, she should see and hear from her children with a smile, that they love her and that she should know that her children are being cared for, that she does not have to worry about anything while she looks after others.
Often his wife calls him on the way home:
She calls me in the morning after a 16 hour shift to stay up.
"I let her talk, listen to her, tell her that she is a fantastic mother, nurse and wife. She gives 100 percent everything every day. So I do the same. It's the little things that count. She has Did so much for others on her last shift. She skipped her meals to give others medication. Her bladder is about to burst, but she's still doing her rounds. Meanwhile, I do homework with our four kids, make dinner and dinner Lunch for the next day. Everything so that she doesn't have to worry ".
For Cole George, it is an absolute heart's desire to have his wife's back while she does so much for others – and ends his description with loving words to his sleeping wife:
"We love our nurse, mother, wife and best friend. Take a rest, my darlingYou don't have to work tonight and we can make dinner together. If you want, I can even massage your feet. "
