Facebook increasingly harmonizes its video component with Instagram

Video has been at the heart of Facebook for many years, since since 2007 Internet users have been able to publish short videos on their feed. Since then, things have of course evolved, if only around the different formats with now long videos, live and reals, a format directly derived from its other flagship platform, Instagram. At the same time, the social network’s algorithms aim to offer videos that interest its subscribers, and it is to the targeting of content that the latest news announced by the platform are dedicated.

First of all, Facebook users can now edit their videos more easily and quickly: in the wake of reals, Facebook offers a single screen for assembling audio, music and text, which can be used for all videos in the feed. It is possible to reverse or speed up sequences. Facebook is also introducing audio effects, in particular to add a voiceover to a video that already has background music. Noise reduction technology is also emerging.

To better promote video content and capture the attention of its users, Facebook now includes a Video tab that replaces Facebook Watch and hosts all the videos offered on the social network: reals, long and direct content. The redesigned interface combines vertical and horizontal scrolling for reals recommended. Note that the shortcut to this section is at the bottom on the iOS app and at the top on its counterpart for Android smartphones.

The Explorer function which intends to help you discover the most popular videos of the moment also benefits from a serious overhaul. Placed in the previously mentioned Video tab, then in Search, it offers several videos of any format related to topics and hashtags that seem most relevant to the user.

It has been possible to watch reals Instagram on Facebook. Their integration now goes further, since it is possible to consult and write comments on reals Instagram directly from the Facebook app. The border between the two social networks has therefore never been so thin. Content creators seem particularly targeted by this integration; it is obviously a question of allowing them to enlarge their audience by reaching a new public.
