If you opened Facebook this morning, you probably noticed that your News Feed was nothing like other days. It seems Facebook’s algorithm has a major problem.
This morning between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., Facebook users began to alert on social networks that their friends’ posts had disappeared from their newsfeed. The latter has completely transformed, and now only displays fan messages to celebrities.
If Mr. Dupont decides to salute the latest song by his favorite artist, all those who follow this star will be able to see his message on their newsfeed. Of course, once users understood how the new News Feed worked, some took the opportunity to send even more messages to their favorite celebrities to flood other users with posts.
Facebook removes your friends’ posts
Facebook has not yet officially communicated about this change, but everything leads to believe that it is a simple bug of the algorithm, and that everything should be back to normal in the next few hours. It would not be the first time that Facebook would be down, we recall that it had already experienced another global outage a few months ago.
For the moment, it is impossible to know if it was Facebook who made a mistake by changing its algorithm, or if the social network is the subject of an attack by malicious hackers. The problem having already appeared more than an hour ago, it is strange to see that the social network has not published any statement.
On Twitter, we see that users from all over the world are facing this problem, so it may well be that it is generalized to all users of Mark Zuckerberg’s social network. Such a problem could well encourage even more Internet users to leave Facebook for other platforms.. The social network is already not at its best, since for the first time in its history, the company has experienced a drop in turnover and profits.
