Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram are working again. After hours of failure on Monday, the company has now issued a statement.

The failure on Monday evening (October 4th) lasted several hours, now Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram are working again. Facebook stated in a blog postthat the outage was the result of a configuration change on his routers that regulate data traffic between the data centers at Facebook.

The change caused problems that interrupted traffic. As a result, the services could no longer be reached. The failure lasted about six hours.

Zuckerberg apologizes

The company also announced that there was no evidence that user data was affected. Facebook apologized “to all concerned” for the failure. They want to work on “finding out more about what happened today so that we can make our infrastructure even more resilient”.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg (37) also posted an apology: “Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger are now back online. Sorry for the interruption today. I know how much you rely on our services to keep in touch with the people you care about.”
