More and more Internet users are exploiting advanced language models to generate texts for their Tinder profiles and to initiate conversations on dating app.
This is certainly not the use for which these technologies were designed, but it was inevitably to be expected…
A Discord bot to flirt on… Tinder
At the end of February, Meta presented LLaMa, its own language model, the use of which is currently reserved for a few approved researchers. A few days later, the model leaked on the controversial 4chan platform.
Since the model has been stolen, it has no restrictions, so users are free to experiment with it as they see fit and, unsurprisingly, have a field day hijacking its use. Alfredo Ortega, a computer security software engineer, created a Discord bot to let other people experience Meta’s AI. In particular, he detailed the process necessary to generate content on Tinder.
“ The project is to develop a series of prompts for the AI to “help” you establish a conversation. I think this can encourage many people to start chatting », explains the engineer. The system is able to generate a basic conversation on the app and complete the text of profiles when instructed to do so, although its capabilities are still limited. Also, the process is not yet fully automated and requires the user to copy and paste text generated by the chatbot.
GPT-4 is better, but has limitations
Motherboard wanted to test the skills of GPT-4, the latest iteration of the language model on which ChatGPT is based, to generate content on Tinder and compare the results with that of Meta. This one does ” a better job than current implementations of Facebook’s leak model “, assures the media. Nevertheless, it has more restrictions than its competitor.
The capabilities of language models are very numerous and can be useful in many areas. Beware all the same of the dubious uses of this technology… Last week, an application using chatbots to speak to women on behalf of men without them being aware was born.
