Faced with Macron, “we must oppose in a credible way”, believes Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol

“Bordélisation” of the debate for Gérald Darmanin, “transformation of the Assembly into ZAD” for Marine Le Pen… Political reactions have not been lacking in the last fortnight in the face of the strategy of Nupes, and more particularly of La France insoumise, within the framework of the examination of the pension reform bill.

Express what the PS proposes on the merits

The latter have tabled thousands of amendments, in order to slow down the examination of the text. A strategy strongly criticized by the majority and the right, but also by part of the left, including environmentalists and socialists. “Do you have to be over the top?” questions himself at the microphone of Europe 1, Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol.

The mayor of Rouen, who has made headlines in recent weeks by contesting the results of the election of the party’s new First Secretary, is advocating a change of strategy for the Socialist Party. “I try to carry, and I believe that this thesis is validated today, it is this idea that we need a credible opposition and that to oppose in a credible way, we must know what the PS proposes on the merits”, he explains.

“The left block is the weakest”

“We can be allies (with La France insoumise) without being aligned”, continues the first deputy secretary of the party. “Of the three current blocs in the political landscape, it is the left bloc which is the weakest. And clearly, the strategy of sound and fury”, does not meet with everyone’s approval, notes Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol .

“Listen to the inter-union. Have you seen the words of Laurent Berger and Philippe Martinez? The least we can say is that they are not tender”, he underlines. “So do we want the left tomorrow to become credible again, that is to say, capable of proposing an alternative and tomorrow the alternation? Or do we want to remain ‘the richest in the world? cemetery’?”, concludes the mayor of Rouen, who now wishes to “credibly oppose” the government and Emmanuel Macron.
