Faced with the energy, ecological and social crises, what future for public transport?

Flows between the crowns and the central municipalities represent half of the mobility emissions of urban areas, with the central cities accounting for only 2%. Out of three cars circulating in the heart of the city of large conurbations, only one comes from the city center, the other two from outside, from the inner ring or the outskirts. It is therefore necessary to reduce the use of the car in travel. Is it not at the scale of urban areas, living areas, more than that of city centres, that mobility policies must be developed? At the time of the energy crisis, what solutions deserve to be developed, without creating a divide?

These questions will be at the heart of the conference that Le Monde Cities is organizing on Wednesday, November 30, from 8:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., in its auditorium, 67-69, avenue Pierre-Mendès-France, Paris 13e borough. Will take part in the debates, in particular, Emmanuelle Wargon, former minister and president of the energy regulation commission (CRE); Emmanuel Dassa, mayor of Briis-sous-Forges (Essonne); Marie Chéron, from Transport & Environment; Daphne Chamard, from Secours Catholique; Alain Jund, vice-president in charge of mobility for the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg; Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, Mayor of Rouen and President of the Rouen-Normandy Metropolis; Thierry Mallet, president of the Transdev group.
