A Dutch company founded in 2013, Fairphone is offering itself a new fundraiser in 2023.
The group specializes in the design and production of devices integrating environmental and fair trade constraints throughout their production chain.
Fairphone, 10 years later
Fairphone has just announced a brand new fundraiser to finance future projects. In total, the company has raised no less than 49 million euros, which will make it possible to ” make electronics ever more ethical “, but also to settle various loans and to reimburse certain crowdfunders.
A few months ago, Fairphone launched into a new market, with its Fairphone 3 New Life Edition (or Fairphone 3 New Life Edition in good French). Concerned about the environment and faithful to its ethics, the Dutch company recalled that a refurbished telephone did not imply anything new, and therefore nothing polluting.
Accelerate growth, product development and environmental impact
Thanks to this new fundraising, Fairphone is expanding its portfolio of international investors, which will notably enable it to expand its mining activities in Africa and South America while of course maintaining its ethical side, from production until delivery.
The Dutch company also promises to optimize its customer service and hopes to affect the market as a whole. Fairphone indeed aims to demonstrate that there is a real demand for more ethical electronics, combined with a profitable business model.
Of course, beyond an eco-responsible design, the Fairphone company offers terminals ” built to last. The latest model, the Fairphone 4, has a 5-year warranty, with the added bonus of a maximum repairability index, which allows everyone to easily repair their smartphone.
Fairphone also plays the long-term card on the software side, since its second model, launched in 2016, is still affected by regular updates. However, this will no longer be the case from next month, after 7 years of good and loyal service.
