The LKA Lower Saxony warns in a message about fake emails with the subject: “Verification of your credit or debit card is required to avoid being blocked.” These were circulated by criminals on behalf of the federal government.
In it, the mail recipients are asked to confirm their credit card data, as these allegedly no longer comply with the PSD2 guidelines of the European Union. According to the fraudsters, the payment card must be verified by August 31 in order to continue using the credit card and avoid being blocked.
