Falling polls: Harris’ communications chief resigns

Falling polls
Harris’ chief communications officer resigns

Harris is celebrated when she becomes the first African American Vice President of the United States. Then she is unable to distinguish herself with her own ideas. Their popularity continues to decline. Now her communications director is leaving her post.

Amid bad polls and negative headlines, the communications director is stepping down from US Vice President Kamala Harris. Harris’ office announced on Thursday (local time) that Ashley Etienne, who has held the post since the Vice President took office, will be leaving the team in December to “pursue other duties”. The change comes in troubled times for Harris: The deputy of US President Joe Biden has been struggling with falling approval ratings for months.

Recently, media reports of frustration and dysfunction in Harris’ team also increased. Overall, the first few months in office did not go well for the Democrat. The 57-year-old was cheered frenetically at the beginning as the first woman and first black woman in the US vice-presidency. So far, however, she has not been able to develop her own profile. In the first few weeks of the new administration, Harris hardly appeared at all in terms of content. She ended up entrusting Biden with several highly complex issues, including curbing illegal migration.

However, Harris has not been able to score here so far, but instead made individual mistakes and remained little visible overall. In an interview with television broadcaster ABC on Thursday, Harris tried to dispel depictions of frustration in her and those around her. She countered that the government had achieved a great deal. When asked whether she felt she was being used improperly or underutilized, Harris responded with a hesitant laugh and said, “No, I am not. I am very pleased with what we have achieved.” But she knows that there is still a lot to do.
