Nine years after its release, Fallout 4 finally receives a free addition which pleasantly transcends the gameplay to offer an experience more in tune with the times.
Once the cold shower of the “next-gen” patch had passed, the modders were able to calmly get back to work on Fallout 4. The mod that interests us here notably significantly improves the gameplay of the title to make it more dynamic and stick to the codes modern FPS, both with the keyboard/mouse combo and with a controller.
A modern twist on Fallout 4 gameplay
Released in 2015, Fallout 4 is still holding up quite well, notably thanks to the efforts of a community of modders almost as passionate as on Skyrim. The title’s gameplay, however, is starting to collect a little dust, particularly when it comes to the dynamism of its movements. This is where the bp42s Enhanced Movement mod comes into play. As its name suggests, it drastically improves the movement mechanics of Fallout 4.
It is particularly inspired by modern FPS by adding a slide. Please note, however, that this specific addition requires another mod, Actor Velocity Framework, which is unfortunately not compatible with the “next-gen” patch. To benefit from it, you will therefore have to return to an earlier version of Fallout 4. But the sprint already present in the base game thus benefits from a welcome improvement, as do the directional movements. The mod is fully modular and highly configurable, to suit everyone’s needs. To use Enhanced Movement, however, it is necessary to install an Extenteder Script and Mod Configuration Menu, essential to properly mod Fallout 4.
Enhanced Movement actually comes in the form of different modules including sprinting, sliding, or even the consumption of action points to execute everything. MCM is therefore mandatory to configure all of this directly in Fallout 4, as well as to modify the commands introduced by the mod. Even if the installation of the mod is only possible on PC, bp42s has made it compatible with both the keyboard/mouse combo and the controller (but the configuration on the latter is a bit more complicated). You can see what Enhanced Movement gives more precisely via the video below, and download it if you feel like it via its dedicated Nexus Mods page.
