Fallout: The TV Series Will Tell an Untold Story Set in the Gaming Universe

In filming since this summer, the series fallout started its promotion with a single image not very rich in information, but very evocative for fans of the license. The show should of course be full of references to the games, but it will not try to adapt the story of one of the episodes sictro sensu. That’s what Todd Howard confirmed today, once again at the microphone of Lex Fridman, after talking to us about the game IndianaJones.

A standalone series that doesn’t need games to be understood

Series fallout which is in preparation at Amazon will therefore offer us an unpublished storyseparate from the games, but which will still be located in the same universe as the latter.

Howard reveals that before the series saw the light of day, Bethesda had received several proposals to adapt the license, but all wanted to recreate the scenario of certain episodes :

When people wanted to make a movie out of it, they wanted to tell the story of Fallout 3 or the story of Fallout 4, and it was “meh”. That’s why we said, “hey, let’s do something that exists in the world of Fallout.” It’s not about telling the story of one of the games. Let’s tell a story here that fits into the world we’ve built, that doesn’t break any of its rules, that may reference things in the games, but isn’t a rehash of the games. The series exists in the same world, but it stands on its own and adds things. Also, people who haven’t played the games, who can’t find out how cool and crazy Fallout is, can watch the series. »

It must be said that telling one of the stories of the games already released could be complicated, so much the license is attached to the system of choice that shapes the experience of the people who play it.

Still no release date for this series falloutwhich should arrive in the coming months on Amazon Prime Video.
