Prime Video will continue to explore the Wastelands of fallout in a season 2. As we already suspected, the series inspired by one of the most famous video game franchises was renewed for an additional season following a start that the streaming platform described as “phenomenal”, without give many more details.
One more season in the apocalypse
According to Prime Video, the success of fallout on the platform was immediate. The series would have ranked “among the three most watched titles in the history of the service” and the season would be “the most watched since The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.”
Difficult to confirm his statements because Prime Video is not really used to communicating precise audience figures. Still, beyond that, season 2 of fallout already seemed to be in the pipeline even before the launch of the series on April 11. In fact, we learned a few days before that a tax credit offer from California encouraged Amazon to come and film the rest of the show on its land.
As a reminder, fallout is a series produced by Kilter Films and executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy (creators of the HBO series Westworld). Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner serve as executive producers, creators and co-showrunners.
“Jonah, Lisa, Geneva and Graham have captivated the world with this groundbreaking and crazy series. The bar was set high for fans of this iconic video game and, so far, it seems we have exceeded their expectations, while bringing millions of new fans to the franchise. The cast, Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins and Kyle MacLachlan, gave it their all.”said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios.
“We’re excited to announce season two after just one week of airing and take viewers even deeper into the surreal world of Fallout.”
The first season of fallout takes place two hundred years after an apocalyptic conflict ravaged the world. Lucy (Ella Purnell), descendant of the survivors who took refuge in luxurious anti-atomic bunkers called Vaults, is then forced to put her pacifist ideals to the test when she must return to the surface to save her father and thus face the hostile world of the Wastelands.
“Damn! Thanks to Jonah, Kilter, Bethesda and Amazon for having the courage to create a series that seriously addresses all of the most serious problems in today’s society: cannibalism, incest… and cakes to the jelly. The rest is to come”said Robertson-Dworet and Wagner.
If you are not one of those who have already devoured the first eight episodes of falloutthe series can be discovered without delay on Prime Video.
