Available since April 11 on Prime Video, the post-apocalyptic series “Fallout” is causing a sensation among subscribers and not only.
Update of 04/22 : In the rankings published by GamesIndustry.biz, Fallout 4 topped the European weekly top 10, which includes physical and digital game sales in retail stores as well as on Steam, Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and Nintendo Eshop. This represents a 7,500% sales increase for Fallout 4, which outpaces titles like Helldivers 2, EA Sports FC 24 and Grand Theft Auto 5. In total, 69% of these sales were achieved on PC, a large number of players who jumped into the game following the critical success of the television adaptation of Fallout.
Since its launch on Prime Video, the Fallout series has met with almost unanimous critical and public success. While it’s garnered a lot of excitement in less than a week, it appears the series is already having a huge impact on the popularity of the franchise that spawned it.
On even tripling their usual numbers.

A resurgence of popularity
Fallout 4 saw the biggest increase – going from weekend peaks of around 20,000 to 24,000 over the past six months to 83,491 this past Sunday. Fallout 76 also saw its numbers skyrocket, jumping from 13,000 players to 39,455 on Sunday and breaking its all-time concurrent player record.
As for Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3, they also saw their numbers more than triple. Bethesda, the games’ publisher, smartly restarted a sale of its Fallout games with the arrival of the series, which also led to a big increase in sales of the franchise’s titles.
Bethesda also recently announced that it will release a next-gen update for Fallout 4 on April 25, featuring 60fps performance modes on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S as well as additional improvements. New quests will also be added.
Meanwhile, the series is expected to continue with a second season, with production moving from New York and Utah to California thanks to a very favorable tax credit.
