His documents were falsified, but his behavior betrayed him: The police arrested a 49-year-old in Upper Bavaria who pretended to be a doctor in order to work in vaccination centers.

It is an old phenomenon that people would like to be doctors and also resort to fraudulent means in order to enjoy the reputation of this responsible profession. Time and again there have been cases in which people have wrongly presented themselves as doctors, sometimes actually working in the profession. One such has now been uncovered in Upper Bavaria. Fortunately, nobody was harmed.

The 49-year-old Stefan H. from Ottobrunn is said to have reported as a vaccination doctor to several vaccination centers in the region, according to “Münchner Merkur”. It was actually used in Rosenheim and Karlsfeld – although it was not approved. In Rosenheim it was “only” used to inform people about their vaccination and the possible side effects and was not involved in the vaccinations itself. At the Karlsfeld vaccination center, however, the man is said to have vaccinated at least 50 people himself.

Suspect forged his records

What was not noticed in advance when Stefan H. was hired by the two vaccination centers, however, noticed the experienced staff there. The head of the center in Rosenheim was puzzled by the expression and behavior of the alleged doctor, employees of the Malteser relief service who were working there also became suspicious and informed the police as a precaution. When the officers came, Stefan H. had run away – a look at the documents he had submitted with his application confirmed the suspicion against him.

“The 49-year-old may have falsified his license to practice medicine,” said the police. Now you check whether he was still working in other vaccination centers, or even otherwise worked as a doctor. For this he could face a prison sentence of up to 15 years. So far, the officials assume that the suspect was also interested in a financial advantage: he was paid for his work in vaccination, apparently with up to 1000 euros per shift.

Wrong doctor had his own website

Bizarre: The 49-year-old even had his own website – in the meantime switched off – on which he advertised himself as a “sensitive doctor” who runs a psychological “advisory institute” in Ottobrunn. There he was at least as honest and did not pretend in his biography that he had studied medicine – allegedly instead education, philosophy and theology. Whether that’s true: very doubtful. And even if it does, these qualifications do not allow you to practice as a doctor.

The 49-year-old has now been arrested and is in custody for forgery and fraud. Assault charges are also under consideration. Fortunately, the vaccinated from Karlsbach did not have any health complications, according to the public prosecutor.
