Electronic Arts kills two birds with one stone by announcing a new studio, whose first game will be centered on Black Panther.

Called Cliffhanger Games, this studio, newly added to the American publisher’s purse, will be responsible for adapting the adventures of this well-known MCU superhero into a single-player game.

Black Panther releases the video game claws

After in particular Spiderman And Wolverine As for Insomniac Games, it’s Electronic Arts’ turn to receive the rights to adapt an iconic character from the Marvel stables into a video game. Until then little seen on this media (with the exception of a DLC on the very lackluster Marvel’s Avengers), Black Panther will therefore be entitled to his own solo adventure. A rather timely announcement, knowing that the comic celebrates its 57th anniversary this month.

It is therefore a new studio from the publisher’s portfolio that sticks to it: Cliffhanger Games, directed by Kevin Stephens, former director of the Monolith Productions studio (Shadow of Mordor). In the post dedicated to his presentation, the studio director said: “ We are committed to providing fans with a definitive and authentic Black Panther experience, granting them more control and impact over their story than any other story-driven video game. ” An entire program.

In addition to its director, Cliffhanger Games already seems to have a solid team made up of veterans of other major licenses such as Halo, god of war, call of duty and consorts.

A project still in the shadows

For the moment, we unfortunately do not have much information to put under our claws about this title reserved for Black Pantherexcept that it will be a single-player third-person action game, obviously with some emphasis on storytelling.

Black Panther requires, the main theater of operations will be the fictional country of Wakanda. Kevin Stephens had this to say about the superhero’s homeland: Wakanda is a rich superhero sandbox, and our mission is to develop an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore its universe. »

In the absence of a trailer or even images of the game itself, however, Cliffhanger Games will have to be taken at its word. There is therefore little more question of any exit window. We bet, however, that this game Black Panther will set its claws at least on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
