Will Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 have this popular character in the cast? The narrative director of the PS5 game answered the question bluntly. It might disappoint.
Despite its classicism, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 should live up to expectations and offer a few surprises. But even if Insomniac Games’ ambitions are enormous, the studio will not be able to satisfy everyone. The developers have their vision, their path to follow and choices were made accordingly.
Forget this character in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will bring back main characters from previous games like MJ, Hailey, and of course, Peter and Miles. To disrupt their new life, Insomniac Games will confront them with a gallery of very tough supervillains like Venom, The Lizard and Kraven the Hunter. Others may be included, but these are the only ones that the studio wanted to reveal before release. If we are to believe a discovered secret, Mysterio would also be in this PS5 sequel.
But the Spider-Man universe being extremely rich, can we hope to see other protagonists? It’s a possibility, but what is now certain is that Gwen Stacy will not be in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. And therefore, no Spider-Gwen de facto either. An absence to avoid friction with MJ? No, but Insomniac Games felt that having Gwen Stacy in this story was inappropriate. Miles Morales still alongside Peter Parker
Bad luck for Gwen Stacy who has gained greater popularity in recent years with the animated films Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. “We tried to give them their own animations (editor’s note: in terms of abilities) as much as possible.
