Jon Watts won’t be capturing the Fantastic Four’s journey into the MCU. The director resigned, but there is no bad blood.

The new edition of the “Fantastic Four” is poorer by a successful director. As “Deadline” reports, filmmaker Jon Watts (40) has thrown in the towel. A bitter loss, after all, he proved with the three new “Spider-Man” films with Tom Holland (25), “Homecoming”, “Far From Home” and “No Way Home” that he understands the taste of the current cinema audience very well .

In a statement, Watts gave to the US industry website: “Making three ‘Spider-Man’ has been an incredible and life-changing experience for me. I am eternally grateful to have been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for seven years I’m excited to be working together again and can’t wait to see the amazing vision for ‘Fantastic Four’ come to life.”

Marvel boss Kevin Feige (48) is also quoted in a statement. Working together on the Spider-Man trilogy has been “a real pleasure. We were excited to continue working with him to bring the Fantastic Four to the MCU. But we understand and support his reasons for stepping down. “

Harmonic Separation – Sure Comeback?

Usually the infamous “creative differences” lead to such a split. In this case, according to the report, there should be other motives. So Watts realized that after three “Spider-Man” films he simply needed a break from the superhero genre.

For any new films with Tom Holland as the friendly neighborhood spider, Watts should definitely be welcomed back to the MCU. No wonder either: Part three, “No Way Home”, shoveled a strong 1.89 billion US dollars at the worldwide box office despite the pandemic – more than any other film in this period.
