Schalke’s board of directors is threatened anonymously
FC Schalke 04 is sinking more and more into chaos. Marketing director Alexander Jobst resigns from office this summer. As a reason he cites “anonymous hostility up to and including threats to which he and his family have been exposed for some time”.
After ten years as a board member at FC Schalke 04, Alexander Jobst is stepping down from FC Schalke 04 at the end of the season on June 30th. This was announced by the expected relegation from the Bundesliga after the district club’s supervisory board had complied with the 47-year-old’s request. “I go with a very, very heavy heart and have struggled with this decision for a long time,” said Jobst.
The reason for the decisions were the anonymous hostility up to the threats that he and his family had been exposed to for some time, the statement said. With all understanding for anger, frustration and also emotionally violent expressions, a red line had been crossed for him. The Supervisory Board regretted the decision, but also showed understanding.
“We are very reluctant to lose Alexander Jobst. The cooperation between the supervisory board and him has always been very trusting and professional. FC Schalke 04 is losing an expert whose success speaks for itself. We owe him a lot of thanks and wish him everything Good for his future “, said the chairman Jens Buchta.
Jobst has been on the Schalke board since 2011 and is responsible for marketing, sales and organization. The course for the future has also been set in the second division. “We created a foundation in the marketing revenues for the second division at an early stage that most clubs in the first division do not have. I am handing over my area of responsibility in a first-class condition,” said the native of Hesse. It was a great honor for him to work for the club. “Schalke 04 is unique and has the strength to be successful again in terms of sport.”
