A man (84) from Austria was trapped under a tree on Thursday evening on the Pyramidenkogel in the Lower Carinthia region and could no longer free himself. Thanks to his cows, his nephew and the Klagenfurt mountain rescue service, the story came to a happy end on Friday morning, as the «Kronen newspaper»Reported.
The day before, the farmer had trapped his foot under a falling tree while working in the forest. During the night it was not noticed that the farmer never came back from his work.
And so the 84-year-old had to stay outdoors until morning. Fortunately, his cows made a lot of noise and thus drew attention to the accident victim.
Mooing cows and a dark yard
His nephew heard the roar of the cows and only then noticed that there were no lights on in his uncles’ yard. So the man set off to see if everything was going well. When he couldn’t find his uncle, he looked for him – with success.
The emergency services finally freed the farmer. According to the first aiders, he got away relatively unscathed apart from a foot injury. “And that, although he had spent the whole night in the open,” said a mountain rescuer to the “Kronen Zeitung”. The man was taken to hospital with minor injuries. (ct)
