BRUSSELS (Reuters) – Farmers blocked several border crossings between Belgium and the Netherlands on Friday, according to Belgian and Dutch traffic services, continuing their protest actions against increased charges, imports of good food products market and excessive bureaucracy.

The border crossing towards Antwerp, Belgium’s second city and Europe’s second port, is one of the blocked crossing points, according to a message published on X, formerly Twitter.

Local media report that the protests began late Thursday night on the Belgian side of the border and that some Dutch farmers later joined them.

Dutch authorities advise against travel to Belgium on Friday.

According to media reports, most of the protesters are from Belgium and some are Dutch.

In Flanders, farmers have been preventing trucks from entering or leaving the port of Zeebrugge for several days. According to the Flemish television channel VRT, nearly 2,000 trucks are stuck there.
