Fashion editor reveals: This is what I shop for on Black Friday

The annual Black Friday is a tough test for many. Because to resist the whopping reductions and offers? Not easy. Bad purchases are usually inevitable here! But not this year. Fashion editor Jessica reveals what ends up in her shopping cart and which pieces are worth investing in.
For me, the annual Black Friday at the end of November is both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, discounts that are so attractive that even those who are reluctant to shop get in the mood for shopping on this day. But on the other hand, reductions of up to 80 percent always harbor the risk that bad purchases end up in the shopping cart and get stuck in our closet for years… I speak from experience. But this year I’ve already thought about it beforehand, I’ve taken a close look at my wardrobe and my jewelry box and thought carefully about what I want to shop for. That way, impulse purchases don’t stand a chance. These are my top 4 pieces for Black Friday.
A classic: trench coat in beige
At the top of my Black Friday shopping list this year is the trench coat. For me an absolute classic that should not be missing in any wardrobe. Because: It is combined with a sweater and thick tights, both in the cold season and, with a summer dress and sneakers, a welcome companion on warm days. So that I can wear it over several seasons, I choose an oversized model, with buttons in the color gradient, with buttoned epaulettes and back and shoulder yokes. To ensure long-lasting quality, I only put pieces in my shopping cart that, like the models from the Danish fashion label Meotine, are made of 100 percent cotton.
Mini hoop earrings with laboratory diamonds
When it comes to jewellery, a classic is also on my shopping list: mini hoop earrings with diamonds. Especially for my third and fourth ear piercing, I rely on classic models, I like to vary the front ones according to my mood. The quality of the diamonds is of course in the foreground here. Since the price-performance ratio has to be right, I did some research beforehand. Basically, when buying diamond jewelry, you should pay attention to the four “C”s: cut (the cut), color (the color), clarity (the clarity) and carat (its carat weight). Because they say a lot about the quality of the diamond and can be ideally compared with each other. Diamonds are also increasingly being grown in the laboratory, which has significant environmental benefits. Because, according to the Frost & Sullivan report, mining diamonds has seven times more impact on the environment than growing them in a lab. In addition, they use significantly fewer resources and cause only a fraction of the air pollution. Leo Mathild, for example, sells jewelery with cultured diamonds.
A cashmere scarf also ends up in the shopping cart
Soft, softer, cashmere! For me there is no other material that can transport the feeling of cosiness as well as cashmere. After two or two cashmere sweaters have already moved into my wardrobe, a cashmere scarf is to follow. I opt for a soft red tone, which I can combine perfectly with my beige, black and gray winter coats. I have my eye on a Strathberry model. So that you can really enjoy your cashmere pieces for a long time, you should never wash them hot, instead only clean them by hand with a little wool detergent or hair shampoo. Fortunately, cashmere is relatively tough: The material is naturally odor and dirt-repellent and therefore more durable than other items of clothing in everyday life. It is therefore often sufficient to air cashmere out in the fresh air after wearing it.
For the next trip: a suitcase in pistachio green
While I often gravitate towards neutral tones for most investments that will last me more than just one season, I want to put some daring and color into my next suitcase. I absolutely love pistachio green suitcases like this one from Horizn Studios! And with suitcases in particular, a colored copy can eliminate one or the other risk of confusion on the suitcase strap. What do I look for when buying a suitcase? Since I travel a lot, I opt for a hard case – they are simply more robust than the fabric model. I avoid plastic for the wheels, wheels with an aluminum core covered with soft rubber are better.
