Once again bought the jeans too small in the sale and thought you’d lose two or three kilos anyway? We explain how you can expand a pair of jeans if the diet didn’t work out.

Which woman doesn’t know that: You see great jeans, ideally even on sale, and you simply can’t resist buying them. So that it looks particularly crisp and conjures up a nice bottom, we prefer to wear it close-fitting. And since a woman always thinks she would want to lose two or three kilos anyway, she is then bought a size too small. Weeks later you realize that you haven’t lost weight after all, and your pants are still pinching. A classic bad buy!

But that doesn’t mean that the jeans have to be sorted out now. Because: Denim fabric expands when you wear it. This is due to the percentage of elastane it contains. This means that the jeans will stretch over time anyway. If that’s not enough for you, we have a few great tricks to speed up this process.

# 1: your waistband is pinching? You can do that:

A typical region where jeans can pinch is the stomach. This is particularly uncomfortable when worn and also not particularly healthy for the internal organs. So here’s a tip to loosen the waistband: You can either use it immediately after washing or you can wet the trousers especially for this purpose. When wet, the trousers should be hung over a coat hanger or a special waist stretcher. In any case, enough tension should be built up. Then let the fabric air dry – done!

# 2: strong thighs? This helps:

If you don’t have a waist stretcher at hand, you can stretch the jeans over an ironing board even when they are wet. Then stretch the fabric at the waistband while ironing. The same also works for the thigh area. The targeted heating and stretching will widen exactly those areas that are too tight.

# 3: Do you want the jeans to be a perfect fit? That’s how it’s done:

If the jeans should fit perfectly on every part of the body and actually pinch a little everywhere, there is a very special solution. But this is also the most complex. Wash the jeans (at 30 degrees so that they don’t get even tighter) and put them on while they are still wet. And then: wait and see. Keep the jeans on until they are completely dry. Meanwhile, move around extensively so that the jeans really stretch and adapt to the body.
