Fashion trend 2021: The editors love and hate this piece – and you?

1 trend, 2 opinions
This trend piece will not go down well with everyone in 2021 …

We all know: trends are a matter of taste. We can't love, join in, or celebrate all of them. That's completely okay, because that's how our editors Ann-Christin and Friederike feel. Their opinions are divided on this part of the trend.

There is currently a trend that is making our editors desperate – because one loves it, the other hates it: knitted boleros. The short parts cover the arms, but the fabric ends above the chest. A great trend or fashionable horror? This is what our fashionistas say.

Knitted bolero? Bring it on!

I have to admit that I haven't loved the trend since the first hour. And that's probably how everyone feels. But as with so much, I advise you: Take a look at it, get warm with it and implement the trend for yourself as you like it. One or the other of you will ask yourself 100%: And what exactly is this little piece of wool for, which doesn't feel like it covers more than my elbow? Sure, there's nothing to argue against, but I think the trend is really cool and cozy, especially for at home.

For example, my arms are almost always cold, but not necessarily all over my body. So the trend piece is screaming my name. And: If you combine the bolero with a very similar top, then it almost looks like a one-piece with cut outs again. And they are soooooo trendy right now. Once you have one of these on, you NEVER want to take it off again. I promise you! P.S .: The parts are also really practical for yoga and for the warm-up program before exercise (at least if they are not made of wool).

Friederike (left) loves the trend bolero. Ann-Christin, on the other hand, does not think for a second of getting one.

Knitted bolero? No thanks!

All of a sudden, boleros flood the online shops of my favorite street style labels and all I can think of are old photos from my youth, in which I pose in a crop top with an XL smiley face, hip pants with a super blow and a bolero jacket in signal color. 1995 a really cool look – I don't want to see that anymore in 2021. But while smiley tops and trousers that sit so low that strangers could almost write a gynecological report have fortunately lingered in the fashionable oblivion to date, boleros have obviously fought their way back on the fashion radar. A comeback that nobody needs – at least not me.

Because I don't understand the point. Instead of fashionable it-pieces, the new models look as if they accidentally got into the shredder. A turtleneck that suddenly only reaches under the armpits – why? Or a top that only consists of a pair of sleeves – I don't check it! I prefer tops – also with cut-outs – as long as they are made of one piece. And should I, like my dear Freullegin Friederike, be partially too warm, I either grab a cardigan with statement buttons or a cropped turtleneck sweater – these are also very popular right now and make my fashion heart faster with joy instead of sheer amazement beat.

Whether you love these boleros or not – at the end of the day tastes are different – this also applies to fashion editors. But that's what makes fashion so exciting, doesn't it?
