We're currently looking forward to spring, but that doesn't mean that we're not looking very closely at the trends for the rest of the year. And we're already particularly looking forward to one style. Because after several years the cape is celebrating its fashionable comeback – and the new models have absolutely nothing to do with Little Red Riding Hood or Superman's little sister.

It had long been forgotten and is now celebrating its big fashion comeback: The cape is back and will make you even more cuddly in 2021.

It has been official since Fashion Week in Paris at the latest, because hardly any model stepped onto the catwalk without the trend piece. And that was about time, because let's be honest: What could be better than nonchalantly throwing a cape over your shoulders in the cooler season and looking not only ultra casual but also super trendy? The cool hybrid of coat and blanket catapults us straight into seventh fashion heaven.

However, in order not to be mistakenly confused with Little Red Riding Hood or Superman's little sister, one or the other must be taken into account when styling.

Cape etiquette: the color

Do you love eye-catching bright colors? We also! With the cape, less is actually more. Instead of red, yellow or orange, we should therefore stick to muted tones such as beige, gray or khaki. A classic black is of course not to be despised here either and gives the trend part an elegant upgrade. If you are a little braver, however, you can opt for a cape in trendy plaid patterns.

When it comes to the material, you can let off steam again. Whether made of coarse knit, brushed wool or completely casual made of a synthetic material, it is entirely up to you and your taste.

Cape etiquette: the styling

A cape is cut wide and envelops us very comfortably. So that we don't appear wider than we are, everything that comes underneath can accentuate our curves. Means: We save the oversize sweater and swinging maxi skirt for other days. Instead, skinny jeans and turtlenecks or narrow-cut skirts are the perfect styling companions. Add a couple of overknees or boots – et volià!

Alternatively, a belt works wonders as always. Strapped casually over the cape, it accentuates the waist and forms a beautiful hourglass silhouette.
