After mom jeans and bell-bottoms, another denim trend is making it into the wardrobes of stars like Hailey Bieber and fashionistas like Mandy Bork: wide-cut jeans with a side slit.

After a year of working from home and several lockdowns, we all miss getting dressed properly again. But squeeze yourself from homewear and leggings into tight skinny jeans? Does not have to be! Fortunately, after mom jeans and flared denim, there is now a new cut trend that is super stylish, easy to combine and yet comfortable: straight cut jeans with a slit.

Jeans trend 2021: side-slit denim

We already know the slit in the trouser leg from ottoman leggings, now they also adorn our new favorite jeans. The split hem, either on the front or on the side, directs the focus to our shoes and is so super versatile. Regardless of whether our favorite sneakers or heels that have been waiting so long for the next big appearance – they come into their own with these jeans. Ankle boots can also be combined with wide-cut jeans with a slit without being hidden.

Can be combined with trench coats, tops and short jackets

With a tucked-in top or sweater and the so-called "split hem", the leg is visually stretched. Similar to mom jeans or other wide-cut trousers, the trend works great when it comes to breaking styles. Boxy blazers or longer trench coats and coats look stylish with jeans, preferably made of light denim. The trend is diverse: with blazers or tight tops with heels, it looks sexy and feminine. With sweatshirts, long coats or oversized blouses with chunky sneakers, it is sporty and cool.

Due to the loose cut and the high waistband, the jeans are also comparatively comfortable. Another advantage: if you still have an old pair of wide jeans in your closet, you can simply lend a hand and cut the side hem down!
