2020 was a crazy year! But even the corona crisis couldn't rob us of our desire for fashion topics and we looked for the latest trends and styling options for our favorite items. The most googled fashion trends come here.

From Carolin Gelb

In 2020 we spent a lot of time in sweatpants and cozy sweaters. You too? But despite, or perhaps because of, the lockdown, the buttons were hard pressed and we googled for the latest and trendiest fashion must-haves. We'll tell you now which trends were at the top of the fashion list this year.

Fashion style term of the year

Well, we'll let the trend bomb burst right at the beginning. Google's year-in-search data named "indie style" the fastest growing trend of the year. Translated means: Many of us were looking for individual fashion items in 2020 to personalize their style. And one thing is surprising. The more time we spent at home, the more daring and eye-catching the trend pieces we wore outside became. And at the latest after Harry Styles presented himself in a patchwork cardigan by JW Anderson, fashionistas went crazy and made him a DIY project.

Urban Style …

… or street style, as we call it, describes how fashion trends are catapulted from the street onto the catwalks of the big labels. It was one of the most searched fashion terms in the search engine in 2020. And that's no wonder, since the most stylish fashion girls present themselves with the latest trends on the streets of the world's fashion capitals. The street style outfits included pieces such as chunky boots, casual blazers and fashion revivals from the 70s and 80s.

Streetwear trend

A fashion style that has its origins in the 90s: Streetwear mainly includes pieces that we prefer to wear in our free time. This year, no fashionista could avoid chunky sneakers and large hoodies were also part of the fashion uniform. This year we preferred to wear trousers in baggy or slouchy style, and so the streetwear look became a must-have for everyday life. Casual and relaxed, but still not without a trend factor.

80s style

The 80s are the fashion decade that celebrated the biggest fashion comeback in 2020. They're known to this day for exciting pieces like tapered pants, large puffed sleeves, and shoulder pads. All of these trends moved in again in 2020 and we googled for style inspiration and possible combinations for the iconic pieces. Fashion professional Caro Daur was also in 80s fever this year and styled puffed sleeves in an elegant two-piece suit.
