Fast and Furious: how many billions at the box office for Vin Diesel and his family?

Started in 2001, the “Fast & Furious” franchise has just crossed the 7 billion dollar mark at the international box office.

The Fast & Furious franchise passes the 5th! With $512 million collected at the international box office since its release, Fast & Furious X allows the saga carried by Vin Diesel to cross the $7 billion mark worldwide!

Composed of 11 films (including the Hobbs & Shaw spin-off), Fast & Furious thus becomes the fifth most lucrative franchise of all time. The first place is held by the MCU which, with 32 films to date, totals more than $28 billion at the international box office.

The American siteDeadline clarifies that Universal’s Fast & Furious franchise has reached this milestone with just 11 films, tied with Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter saga. These are the franchises with the fewest number of films to pass the $7 billion mark among the five biggest franchises (MCU – Star Wars – James Bond – Harry Potter – Fast & Furious).

It should be noted that of these 7 billion dollars, international markets brought in $5.083 billion and 1.946 billion greenbacks in North America over the past 22 years.

Launched in 2001 by Rob Cohen, the Toretto family stories have seen steady growth in both budget and profitability, especially from 2009 until the Covid-19 pandemic. The highest-grossing film being Fast & Furious 7, the latest opus starring Paul Walker, which totaled $1.5 billion internationally.

340 million dollars: Fast and Furious 10, the most expensive film of all time?

Currently in theaters, Fast X by Louis Leterrier is the most expensive film in the saga with a budget of $340 million. In the feature film, Dom (Vin Diesel) and his family will have to face Dante Reyes, played by Jason Momoa.

The latter is none other than the son of Hernan Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida), mafia whose account was settled by Dom and Brian (Paul Walker) in Fast Five. But he had a son. 12 years after the death of his father, Dante returns to take revenge and he is determined to take from Dom what he holds most dear: his family.

Following Fast & Furious X should be released in our theaters in 2025 and Vin Diesel has already announced that several spin-offs should see the light of day.
