Fast & Furious 9: The first trailer introduces John Cena as a villain

Squeaky tires and lots of action: The first trailer for "Fast & Furious 9" has been released! It not only shows familiar faces of the Toretto family, but also a new opponent who is close on their heels: wrestling star John Cena (42) embodies a special new villain role.

"I've always lived my life in quarters of a mile. But things are changing, I'm now a father," explains Dominic "Dom" Toretto (Vin Diesel) at the beginning of the trailer. He enjoys life in the country, away from breakneck car races and wild chases. He lets his little son Brian know before going to bed: "I will always be in your heart." Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) then gives her foster son a well-known cross chain that had once given her cathedral and is supposed to protect the little one "from what comes there". The threat is not long in coming …

"No matter how fast you are, the past is faster," says Dom, who has to adapt to a new opponent. "It was a long time ago, Dom," explains Jacob (John Cena) at a first meeting. He is Dom's brother and notorious as a contract killer, master thief and high-performance driver. "You have spent a lifetime trying to be better, smarter, stronger than Dom, but could you kill him too? Because I'm ready when you are," Cipher (Charlize Theron) tells him, one more Invoice with cathedral open. Together they come dangerously close to the Toretto crew.

"Family is more than the same blood"

"I'm here to destroy you, little brother," Dom emphasizes, however, his declaration of war. Under the motto "Family is more than the same blood" and "Justice wins", the trailer promises that the bad guys against the team will have a hard time. The trailer also includes the returning Helen Mirren, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges. A special comeback awaits at the end of the trailer: Sung Kang (47) as Han returns to the Toretto family.

"Fast & Furious 9" has been announced in Germany for May 21, 2020. Directed once again by Justin Lin, who has put on a "Fast & Furious" film for the fifth time.
