“Fast & Furious 9” has been running in the US since this weekend. The action cracker could already break a record there.

The ninth installment in the “Fast & Furious” franchise is well on its way to breaking a record. The action film grossed 30 million US dollars for its US release on Friday (June 25) – in just 4,179 cinemas, as reported by “Variety”. If the film continues to be so well received, it could take the front runner in the corona pandemic from the throne: the horror flick “A Quiet Place 2”, which grossed around 48 million US dollars on its opening weekend. According to forecasts, “Fast & Furious 9” could bring 68 million US dollars into the coffers.

Will “Fast & Furious 9” overtake the ninth “Star Wars” episode?

As “Variety” reports further, “Fast & Furious 9” can be seen in most cinemas since the beginning of the pandemic. The cinema business is reporting back successfully. It is also expected that the ninth part of the action series could show the highest-grossing theatrical release since “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” (2019).

Vin Diesel (53) and Co. can already be seen in cinemas in many countries, German “Fast & Furious” fans have to be patient a little longer. In this country, the action flick won’t start on the big screens until July 15th.
