Fatal accident at “Rust”
Incident is said to have occurred during the rehearsal

The investigation into the tragedy on the set of the film “Rust” is still ongoing. The incident is said to have occurred during a rehearsal.
The police are still investigating a tragic incident on the set of the western “Rust”. Documents that the department has submitted to the court and which are available to the US magazine “People”, among others, but give a picture of what might have happened. The tragedy apparently occurred while the actor Alec Baldwin (63) was practicing to pull a prop weapon. A shot went off and 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was fatally injured.
Both director Joel Souza (48), who was also injured in the incident, and another cameraman had declared that the original camera crew had terminated, which led to postponements in the production process because new employees had to be found.
After a lunch break, everyone returned to the set. Souza told the police that he was not sure whether the weapon had been checked again. As far as he knew, all weapons on set must have been checked by the gunsmith in charge and then by an assistant director, who then passed them on to Baldwin. The assistant director stated that it was a “cold weapon” to make it clear that there was no live ammunition in it.
“Like a whip”
Baldwin was sitting on a bench in a church on the set and was practicing drawing the gun when the incident is said to have occurred. Souza claims to have been standing with Hutchins when he suddenly heard something that “sounded like a whip and then like a loud bang”. Hutchins complained of stomach pain and stumbled backwards. Souza noticed that he was bleeding from his shoulder himself. The incident was therefore not filmed because the camera had just been aligned for the scene.
The cameraman also stated that Baldwin was said to have been “very careful” with prop weapons on the set. Before shooting another scene, the actor is said to have made sure, among other things, that there were no children around. On Wednesday, the police would like to comment on the investigation in a press conference.
Baldwin recently commented on the tragedy and stated on Twitter, among other things: “There are no words to express my shock and sadness about the tragic accident in which Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and colleague we hold dear, is around Life came. ” He is cooperating with the police to advance the investigation. He is also in contact with the husband of the deceased and offers his support.
