Alec Baldwin shot a woman on a film set. Director Joel Souza was also injured, but is probably on the mend.

The director Joel Souza (48), who was injured in an accident on the set of the western “Rust”, in which Alec Baldwin (63) shot a camerawoman with a prop weapon, is apparently on the mend. The actress Frances Fisher (69), who also plays a role in the film, explained on Twitter: “Director Joel Souza told me that he left the hospital.” In another tweet Fisher writes again that Souza is no longer in the clinic.

The incident is currently being investigated

Santa Fe County police had previously confirmed that there had been a fatal incident on the set of the film in the US state of New Mexico. Among other things, the industry portal “Deadline” published a statement in which the relevant agency confirmed that Baldwin had fired a prop weapon. The 42-year-old camerawoman Halyna Hutchins was killed, the injured Souza was taken to the Christ St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe.

How exactly the incident came about is still being investigated. A police spokesman has confirmed “Deadline” that Baldwin had been questioned. So far there have been no arrests and no charges have been brought. A spokesman for the production confirmed that filming will be suspended indefinitely.
