  • The case against Hollywood star Alec Baldwin for the fatal shooting on the set of the film “Rust” in 2021 for involuntary manslaughter is to be dropped.
  • This was explained by his lawyers, as reported by several American media.

“We welcome the decision to drop Alec Baldwin’s case and support a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident,” said Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro in a statement.

In October 2021, Hollywood star Alec Baldwin accidentally shot 42-year-old camerawoman Halyna Hutchins with a revolver during a film rehearsal in the state of New Mexico. The US actor had previously been presented with the Colt .45 revolver with the words that the gun was “cold”, i.e. not loaded with live ammunition. In fact, it apparently mistakenly also contained a live bullet.

Baldwin and the film’s armorer are charged with involuntary manslaughter. If convicted, the two face up to 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine each.
