A tragic accident occurred on Thursday at the train station in Uzwil (canton of St. Gallen). A 16-year-old teenager was hit by a train and taken to the hospital by the rescue service with serious injuries. She succumbed to her injuries on Friday night. The St. Gallen cantonal police are looking for witnesses.
According to initial findings, the young woman wanted to get on the train towards St.Gallen. She may have tried to open the doors of the already locked train by pressing a button when the train was already moving. For previously unknown reasons, the 16-year-old fell between the platform and the departing train. She was seriously injured and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. She died there as a result of her severe injuries. In addition to several patrols by the St.Gallen canton police, the rescue service with an emergency doctor and the transport police were on site.
