A serious forestry accident occurred on Saturday morning in Bichlbach in the Tyrolean Außerfern. A 40-year-old wanted to clear up storm damage together with his father. The working day ended in the Innsbruck clinic.
The two men were busy clearing up windfall. The 40-year-old was using a chainsaw to cut down fallen trees. A trunk under tension shot up and the man was trapped between it and a standing tree. The father freed his seriously injured son using a chainsaw. After receiving first aid, the 40-year-old was rescued by the mountain rescue service and flown to the hospital in Innsbruck by emergency helicopter.
