On Christmas Eve, an Italian father wanted to give his little girl some medicine. By mistake, he actually made her swallow cocaine.
The end of this story could have been dramatic. As a family celebrated Christmas Eve at their home in Ravenna, northern Italy, the father wanted to give medicine to his five-year-old daughter. The man thought to administer a laxative and a diuretic to her, but all did not go as planned… In the girl’s glass of water was actually cocaine.
Obviously, the little Italian girl did not digest it and her state of health quickly deteriorated. Concerned about this sudden change, the father called for help. Her daughter was eventually hospitalized urgently at the Bologna hospital. Italian news agency Ansa said the girl was now out of danger. Following this case, an investigation was nonetheless opened by the Ravenna public prosecutor’s office. After a search of the father’s home, traces of cocaine were reportedly discovered.
A similar case in France
Unfortunately, this is not the first time that this kind of incident has occurred. Just a few weeks ago, at the end of November 2021, a baby had already ingested cocaine. The events took place in Perpignan. As with the Italian father, drugs had been found at the home of the French family. But, in the south of France, we are not only talking about traces but 30 grams of cocaine and 750 grams of cannabis resin. The 25-year-old father was sentenced to eighteen months in prison. As for the eleven-month-old baby, he was placed in foster care.
