As a result of April 4, teacher and mother of two Antje R. († 40) appeared as a candidate in the “NDR Quizshow” with Jörg Pilawa (55). She beams into the camera and does well with the questions – her husband Frank R. († 47) only has to step in once. He laughs and rebukes her, the two seem happy. But only three weeks later, the father of the family is said to have committed a terrible act.
On the morning of April 22nd, the fire brigade received an emergency call: Smoke rises from a single-family house in the Mahndorf district of Bremen, when the fire brigade arrives on site, the whole house is already on fire. In the rubble, the firefighters find three lifeless and one seriously injured.
What happened?
The deceased are Antje and Frank R. with their two daughters Helen († 5) and Julie († 3). The parents and the older sister die on site, little Julie is treated with serious injuries – but dies in the hospital.
The Bremen police confirm that it is a homicide offense. Father Frank R. is said to have first anaesthetized his wife and children with sleeping pills and then set the house on fire. He himself died in the flames.
Neighbors and work colleagues can not explain the act, so the “image”. The family of four is said to have led a life out of a picture book. Mother Antje taught German and English at a high school, was athletic – in 2016 she ran a marathon. And she had plans: As she said on the quiz show, she was writing a book about friendship for young people.

And Frank, who worked as a project manager at the municipal company Immobilien Bremen, is said to have enjoyed jogging too. For the NDR quiz show, he sat in the audience to support his wife. The two act like a well-rehearsed team.
When the moderator Pilawa asks which animal in the north is referred to as the “Sünnenküken”, Antje guesses the wrong answer. Before the dissolution, Pilawa looks around questioningly: “Who knows for sure?” Antje calls out happily: “My husband knows. I know my husband knows. ” And Frank can actually help: it’s the ladybug.
Were the pictures of the happy couple just a facade? The motive remains unclear so far. According to the police, the exact circumstances of the act will be further investigated. (ouch)
