Faurecia will sell its SAS Cocpit Modules division to the Indian group Motherson – 02/20/2023 at 09:52


(AOF) – Faurecia, a Forvia group company, has received a firm and binding offer from the Motherson group to acquire 100% of its SAS Cockpit Modules division (“SAS”), a major international supplier of assembly and logistics services for the automotive industry, based on an enterprise value of 540 million euros. “SAS”, headquartered in Karlsruhe (Germany), was created in 1996 as a joint venture between Sommer Allibert and Siemens VDO. The division generated total net sales of €896 million in 2022 and has over 5,000 employees.

The project will be the subject of information/consultation with employee representative bodies. Completion of the contemplated transaction would be subject to customary regulatory approvals and expected to occur in mid-2023.

Patrick Koller, Chief Executive Officer of Faurecia, underlines that this decision is part of the program to dispose of non-strategic assets of 1 billion euros by the end of 2023 which will allow his group to “refocus on its core business “.

Negotiations with builders

On average, equipment manufacturers represent between 60 and 85% of the manufacturing cost of a vehicle. According to the Federation of Vehicle Equipment Industries (Fiev), negotiations are very tense with manufacturers regarding the passing on of increased costs. The price increases concern both electronic components, raw materials, such as steel, nickel, lithium or palladium, energy and transport. Equipment manufacturers mainly negotiate with Stellantis and Renault to set up indices to pass on increases. They are also betting on innovation, differentiation, upgrading and internationalization.
