FBI closes one of the biggest hacker forums, 330,000 hackers fear for their data


Conor Brian Fitzpatrick, a 21-year-old hacker, has been arrested by the FBI in New York. He is accused of being the head of Breachforums, one of the biggest cybercriminal forums in the world. Aggravating circumstance: he is credited with several attacks against US government servers.

Security Week has uncovered court documents confirming that the head of one of the biggest hacker forums was arrested last week. The man is not at his beginnings. He was responsible for RaidForums, closed by Europol in April 2022.

FBI reportedly arrests 21-year-old New Yorker, on suspicion of a conspiracy to access the devices fraudulently. Conor Brian Fitzpatrick, that’s his name, is accused of being the manager of the BreachForums site. The latter is not even hiding in a corner of the Dark Web. This market place is accessible to hackers, but also to everyone. His forum offersbuy all recently stolen data worldwide.

Me Fitzpatrick did not deny his involvement in the site. He admitted that it is he who is hiding behind the pseudonym Pompompurin, a name that probably means nothing to the general public, but which is well known to the American secret services. He is not even far from being his sworn enemy. He was pmanaged to infiltrate an FBI email server and sending thousands of fake emails from agency email addresses.

If the charges against the young man are proven, he may spend some time behind bars. Authorities took the site offline and seized its servers. If they decide to continue the active members of the site, no less than 330,000 hackers will also have to answer for their actions in court.
