FC Bayern fulfills Nagelsmann’s great wish

The anything but silent separation from long-time goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic has been the dominant topic of conversation at FC Bayern for weeks. Now the Munich have found a successor. It is an old acquaintance of head coach Julian Nagelsmann.

Julian Nagelsmann is happy about a new goalkeeping coach for FC Bayern. Michaelrechner from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim is moving to the record German soccer champion. The Munich team had recently parted ways with Toni Tapalovic, much to the disappointment of national goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Neuer had expressed his anger in an interview and caused a stir.

Computer has been responsible for the entire goalkeeping area at TSG Hoffenheim since 2008 as “goalkeeping coordinator”. From 2015 he had managed the goalkeepers of the professional team. Nagelsmann and Computer worked closely together for several years during their time together in the Kraichgau. According to media reports, the 42-year-old is Nagelsmann’s absolute dream solution. Most recently, ex-keeper Tom Starke stepped in as an interim for the vacant position in Munich.

“With Michael’s move to Munich, nothing less than an era is coming to an end here,” said Hoffenheim’s professional football director Alexander Rosen, who “formed generations of goalkeepers” and was “a do-it-all”. For the time being, Alexander Stolz will train the TSG goalkeeper group. He had represented calculator, for whom FC Bayern probably paid a mid-six-figure sum as a transfer fee, when he was with the Turkish national team coached by Stefan Kuntz.

Bayern released Tapalovic last week after eleven years. Tapalovic is a close confidant of captain Manuel Neuer. The 36-year-old had sharply attacked those responsible for the dismissal. CEO Oliver Kahn and sports director Hasan Salihamidzic announced talks with Neuer, whose contract runs until 2024.
