The FCC has certified Samsung’s future flagships. The American authority confirms in passing the model numbers and the capacity of the batteries.
Samsung’s Galaxy S23 lineup is just around the corner. An executive of the firm has already announced it half-wordly and it is the American FCC which comes to provide additional confirmation with its certification. This is indeed one of the last steps before marketing a new product.
The MySmartPrice site has spotted two certifications on the FCC site: the Galaxy S23 with its model number SM-S911B, and the Galaxy S23+ associated with the number SM-S916B.
A rising battery
Usually brands ask the FCC to censor most of the information surrounding the certified product until it is publicly announced. Here, the authority was still able to reveal information about the battery.
We discover that the Galaxy S23 will be equipped with a 3785 mAh battery which will result in a 3900 mAh battery on the technical sheet, while the Galaxy S23 + will integrate a 4565 mAh battery or 4700 mAh on the box.
There is indeed a difference between the actual capacity and the advertised capacity of a battery. The first corresponds to the capacity actually recorded by the model lent to the FCC for certification, while the second corresponds to the manufacturer’s promise on all copies. The actual capacity of a battery is always lower than the advertised capacity depending on its age, wear and thermal conditions.
Anyway the Galaxy S23 should offer increased autonomy. Without taking into account the gains expected by the switch to Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the battery of the Galaxy S23 is up compared to that of the S22. The latter offered a 3700 mAh battery. The S22+ used a 4500 mAh battery.
