The first “The Walking Dead” spin-off is shuffling towards its end. The final season of “Fear the Walking Dead” begins.
The undead shuffle across the screens again. After the original series “The Walking Dead”, the grand finale of which was shown at the end of 2022 after eleven seasons, the first spin-off will soon end. “Fear the Walking Dead” started its eighth and final season yesterday, May 14, on the US television network AMC. In Germany, Amazon Prime Video will show the new episodes from tomorrow, May 16th, as the news agency spot on news has confirmed. It will be a few months before all episodes are released.
Zombies can’t be stopped by strikes
The final season is divided into two. The first six episodes will now be shown on a weekly basis. AMC would like to broadcast the second part of the season, six more episodes, in 2023. Apparently, fans don’t have to worry that the great writers’ strike in the US could affect the series.
While the strike is causing delays in productions like the Netflix hit “Stranger Things” or the upcoming “Game of Thrones” prequel “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight”, the second part of the final season is to go as planned appear. A spokesman for the station confirmed to the portal “The Wrap” about two weeks agothat the planned AMC program will probably not be endangered by the strike until 2024.

The new episodes pick up after the events of last season, when Morgan (Lennie James, 57) and Madison (Kim Dickens, 57) tried to free his daughter Mo from PADRE, but things didn’t go as planned. Good news for fans: Kim Dickens, who reappeared in season seven, is back in the main cast of the series after a long break. Viewers had assumed that their character, Madison, had died in season four. How she survived has not yet been clarified. However, that is about to change. “Seriously, that’s a very important story point that’s being addressed this season,” he said Co-showrunner Ian Goldberg in April of the website “Insider”.

“Fear the Walking Dead” was the first spin-off of the series “The Walking Dead” in 2015, which is based on a zombie world created by Robert Kirkman (44). In 2020, the offshoot “The Walking Dead: World Beyond”, which was completed after two seasons, followed (in Germany on Amazon Prime Video). Last year, the six-part anthology series “Tales of the Walking Dead” was scheduled, which users can currently stream on MagentaTV. In any case, a complete end to the apocalyptic “Walking Dead” adventure is not in sight, because further series are already planned. In about a month, on June 18, “The Walking Dead: Dead City” will be launched in the United States. The miniseries reunites with Maggie (Lauren Cohan, 41) and ex-super villain Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan, 57), who ends up in Manhattan. Like the other “TWD” series, “Dead City” will probably be shown in Germany in the near future.
“The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” will also be released in 2023. The popular character Daryl, played by Norman Reedus (54), suddenly finds himself in France and wonders how he got there. Two other fan favorites are also set to celebrate their return in 2024: Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln, 49) and Michonne (Danai Gurira, 45). The series doesn’t even have a title yet according to AMC, the twist to the “epic love story” but already started in February.
