OpenAI continues to develop its artificial intelligence tools, at the origin of ChatGPT. Sam Altman’s firm is reportedly preparing the creation of a new search engine!
When ChatGPT was released, Google was very afraid for its business model, fearing that chatbots could eventually replace search engines. Microsoft thus tried to revive Bing, by combining it with the capabilities of ChatGPT. But if for the moment, this experience has not brought major upheavals, Sam Altman’s firm still seems to want to compete with Google on its territory. This is indicated by the search engine made in ChatGPT potentially in development.
Search.chatgpt.com, a soon-to-be popular URL?
What if Google faced for the first time in at least fifteen years a real competitor in its core business, the search engine? It may well be that this hypothesis is not outlandish, since the competitor in question would simply be OpenAI, and its famous ChatGPT.
Indeed, as reported by the media Neowin, a Reddit user found SSL certificates on the web indicating the creation of a domain name, which says it all. It is in fact an interface whose URL would be “search.chatgpt.com”, a name which displays an interesting result when you search for it on a browser.

As you can see in the screenshot above, instead of displaying the usual error message when typing an incorrect web address, the page simply displays “not found”. So it appears that there is a platform being built behind this domain name.
This is confirmed on X by a podcaster specializing in artificial intelligence, @nonmayorpete, who uses the URL already cited above, and adds a date behind it: May 9.
Could it be that OpenAI is preparing to launch its AI-powered search engine next week? And if so, what particular form could it take in order to truly compete with the Google monster? We should have a first response in a few days.
