The general election is keeping Germany in suspense. These special broadcasts will keep you informed tonight of the state of affairs.

In the federal election on Sunday (September 26th), the CDU and CSU union suffered heavy losses. The SPD, however, emerged from the vote as the winner. It is currently unclear which of the two major parties will ultimately provide the Chancellor and (co) govern the Federal Republic for four years. Because it now depends above all on the decisions of the possible coalition partners Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and FDP. This evening (September 27), three television stations will be providing information on current developments in special programs.

The public broadcasters each broadcast 45 minutes from the capital

It starts at 7:30 p.m. on ZDF. In the 45-minute special broadcast “ZDF special – Germany has chosen”, the public broadcaster tries to clarify the most important questions the day after the election. Including: How can a government be formed? Which party suffered a bitter disappointment, which party had reason to be happy? And what happens in the time until the new government is formed? Moderator Matthias Fornoff (58) and his colleagues provide conversations, backgrounds, classifications and analyzes – live from the ZDF capital city studio in Berlin.

Also from Berlin, Tina Hassel (57) reports to the first ARD studio manager with the “Focus: Chancellor wanted: The coalition thriller after the election”. In the 45-minute special, the journalist speaks to top representatives of the parties. Also present: SPD Chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz (63), Green leader Robert Habeck (52) and FDP General Secretary Volker Wissing (51). The starting shot is at 8:15 pm directly after the “Tagesschau”.

Peter Kloeppel devotes 15 minutes to the coalition options on RTL

Who do green and yellow make chancellor? This burning question is also addressed by RTL at prime time from 8:15 pm in a “RTL Aktuell Spezial”. Within 15 minutes, chief anchor Peter Kloeppel (62) focuses on the possible coalition options. In the end, will there be a Jamaica coalition made up of the Union, the Greens and the FDP or a traffic light alliance made up of the SPD, the Greens and the FDP? In addition, the 62-year-old classifies the results of election Sunday and the demands of the parties.
