For a limited period of time, less federal money should flow to unemployment insurance and the railway infrastructure fund.
At the same time, the canton’s share of the direct federal tax is to be reduced.
The Federal Council has specified the savings program outlined at the beginning of the year. As announced, the state government also wants to start with the tied expenses.
In addition to the two billion franc savings package next year, billions more are to be saved in the medium term. Without these measures, the statutory debt brake cannot be complied with.
ALV and railways in sight
In order to eliminate the structural deficits from 2025, for example, the federal contribution to unemployment insurance is to be reduced by CHF 250 million per year for a limited period of five years.
The consultation draft is planned for June. Measures in the AHV – especially in the area of widows’ pensions – are to be taken with a separate template and relieve the federal budget from 2026.
