Even without having used it, you know the American carrier FedEx. If only if you have seen the film Alone in the world with Tom Hanks released in 2000, in which the brand often appears on screen. In recent years, we mainly talked about the company when its trucks full of PlayStation 5s were robbed, or when Huawei accused it of diverting documents to the United States. But beyond these businesses, FedEx continued to develop with a specific objective, to stay in the race against its main competitor: Amazon.

Jeff Bezos’ giant has indeed largely contributed to the decline of carriers over the years, and FedEx is no exception. In 2019, the firm announced thatit will no longer transport Amazon packages via its airline FedExExpress. Amazon responds by prohibiting sellers from using FedEx for Prime deliveries, before retracting the following year. Suffice it to say that relations are quite tense between the two companies, and the announcement of a new FedEx platform shouldn’t make things better.

FedEx launches logistics platform to compete with Amazon

Named fdx, it is “the first data-driven commerce platform that connects the entire customer journey, making it easier for businesses to increase demand and conversion, optimize delivery, and streamline the returns”.

You will have understood, it is not a question of launching into selling productsbut to register on the ground of the logistics by targeting businesses. The idea is that they can provide more precise information regarding their deliveries, for example.

The aim is to attract merchants by offering them a type of all-in-one solution. So keep them withinFedEx ecosystem without them having to go through another platform like Amazon. The fdx service will launch in fall 2024.
