Specialized in the interactions between decoration and emotions, a new kind of influencers show us how to design an interior that meets our deep needs (energy, calm, sleep, etc.). Choice of objects and colors, position of furniture, circulation of natural light…. All aspects of housing are covered. While traditional feng shui relies on the balance between yin (letting go) and yang (action), psycho decoration wants to be more affordable, better adapted to our lifestyles. No need to turn everything upside down to feel better at home… and in your head!
1. I bring in the light
For high morale, attract solar energy indoors. Open the shutters, draw the curtains and place mirrors in strategic places (next to the window and/or in a poorly lit corner). Ventilate several times a day to chase away negative emotions – and indoor pollutants – and stay connected to the world.
2. I focus on curved shapes
In nature, a straight line does not exist. The rocks, valleys and dunes are sculpted by wind, sun and rain; even the human body is made of curves. Suspensions, mirrors or carpets, invite these calming organic shapes home. Rather than a table with sharp corners, choose an oval model or one with rounded edges. On the sofa side, the bean format is ideal, curved as if to protect us.
3. I go green
Linden, sage, pine… Symbols of life, plant colors have the power to regenerate us like after a walk in the forest. They install a fresh and balanced atmosphere, conducive to relaxation. Make room for them by multiplying green plants in an indoor garden style or by placing a few branches in a vase. You can also stick a panoramic decoration on the wall representing an undergrowth, a tropical forest or XL foliage.
4. I favor soft materials
To feel good at home, all the senses count. The sight, of course, but also the touch with materials that we enjoy touching : loopback sofa, velvet armchair, raw wood table… To warm up tiled or laminate flooring, cover them with rugs. And the sense of smell? Find serenity by pouring a few drops of ylang-ylang or lavender essential oil onto a tissue or into a diffuser.
5. I love pastels
On the walls, avoid pure white which can create a feeling of emptiness and anxiety. Swap it for a light pastel with a soft and subtle energy. While warm whites (with a touch of pink, red, yellow or brown) warm up the atmosphere, cold whites (with a drop of blue, gray or green) bring a feeling of calm and freshness.
6. I decorate with pendant lights
It restores balance in rooms with high ceilings and neutralizes negative energies. Choose a wavy, airy and delicate model, in woven bamboo for example. You can also opt for a decorative mobile, which has the same powers.
7. I dare to use color
“Like music, color emits vibrations that influence our mood. It is an excellent tool to feel better at home. If you want keep stress away, blue and green are essential. IThey calm the heart rate and balance blood pressure, unlike pure white which is a stimulant. Yellow brightens the room and morale – a real depression buster! Orange and Indian pink are full of happy and stimulating vibes. If you don’t have to paint an entire wall, you can play with textiles (curtains, cushions). Or prefer softer, more nuanced shades, such as nude pink, terracotta or pastel blue.“

8. I surround myself with beautiful objects
“Objects are a source of visual and mental pollution. They take precedence over our living space, block light and gaze. A busy interior forces the brain to constantly analyze the environment. Once we become aware that this overflow exhausts us, change can take place. It’s about sorting to keep only the essentials, that is to say, what makes you truly happy. So much the better if there are spaces that remain empty, it is a source of appeasement. Stage your interior as if it were a store where you would want to buy everything. A vase with a brancha drawer with identical transparent containers… You must take pleasure in contemplating the objects you have selected.“

9. I find a layout reassuring
“All our senses are directed forward. To feel safe, the back of the body needs closure, like a turtle shell. Ideally, the sofa and bed should be against the wall. And the front door stay in our field of vision when we sit down or go to bed. It is also important to turn off the phone and connected devices at night. Sleeping with the head to the east or to the north is preferable, because we are sensitive to earth’s magnetic field. But if it is not possible, it is not a drama! Another tip for gaining serenity: write a short list of aspirations (calm, gentleness, family, etc.) then review the walls. What hangs there – a painting inherited from grandma, a portrait of a missing person – is not necessarily in tune with our desires. Conversely, a jumble of photos joyous sends a positive message that pulls us up.”
