In his new justice drama “Faith” he searches for the truth

In the new streaming series “Ferdinand von Schirach – Faith”, the bestselling author brought a judicial scandal into the presence of social media in the mid-1990s.
RTL is starting the new miniseries “Ferdinand von Schirach – Faith”. From today (November 4th) the seven episodes can be streamed on RTL + (formerly TVNOW). The series will then also be broadcast on the TV channel Vox. In the exciting justice drama, bestselling author Ferdinand von Schirach, 57, transports the so-called “Worms Trials” of the 1990s into the present. For the first time he wrote the scripts exclusively himself.

“Believe” is a series about abuse and agitation on the internet. A small town pediatrician diagnoses rape in a girl. In doing so, he started a process of abuse of a previously unknown extent. Because then prosecutor Cordelis (Sebastian Urzendowsky, 36) accuses 26 residents of the small town of having operated a child pornography ring.
Shortly after Chief Inspector Laubach (Désirée Nosbusch, 56) began the investigation, social media were already calling for the reintroduction of the death penalty for child molesters. Defense lawyer Schlesinger (Peter Kurth, 64) fights in the process against false statements, suggestive questioning methods and the mills of the judiciary itself.

Schirach uses the “Worms Trials” as the basis for his script. In the trials from 1994 to 1997, a total of 25 men and women from Worms and the surrounding area were charged with having engaged in joint porn ringing. But it turned out differently than expected: after a long ordeal, all of the accused were finally acquitted before the district court in Mainz, and one person has died in the meantime.
“‘Faith’ is a format about our time”
With “Faith” Ferdinand von Schirach goes into the disturbing social developments of our time. “The essence of these proceedings was the failure of all social and legal institutions, the press and the public. The general outrage, the unchecked hatred and the terrible hysteria at that time are very similar to today’s social conditions,” said the author. “‘Belief’ is a format about our time, about the world we live in today. It tells the story of a general failure of society,” says Ferdinand von Schirach himself about his work.
The series was previously awarded two main prizes at the “Cannesseries” festival. RTL starts the series just in time for the renaming of its streaming portal TVNOW to RTL +. There should be a new image and even more entertainment – but the conditions remain the same.
