The Spanish racing driver Fernando Alonso has been involved in a traffic accident, as his Formula 1 team has confirmed.
39-year-old Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso was involved in an accident while training on a racing bike in Switzerland. His team Alpine confirmed this on Twitter. More precise details about the traffic accident were not given. Alonso is conscious, it is said.
It is unknown how badly Alonso is injured. More detailed investigations should be carried out on the morning of February 12th No further information was given, the team did not want to comment on this at this point in time.
The Italian newspaper "La Gazzetta dello Sport" had previously reported that the accident should have occurred near Lugano. Alonso was allegedly hit by a car. Colleagues and other racing teams wished the F1 driver a speedy recovery after the news broke, including the Haas F1 Team and Romain Grosjean (34), who survived a horror crash at the Bahrain Grand Prix last year.
